Fast and Easy Ways to Detect Eyes from Images and Video Streams

This is a component of the PL Image Understanding Engine
This eyes detector (eyes locating software) can be used to locate both eyes from images at different orientations and with different poses. This eyes detector can detect from north, east, south and west simultaneously in real-time from video steams with the normal laptop/desktop computers available to the market currently. This technology can be used to detecting and tracking eyes from a webcam connected to a PC.
Project began in Dec. 2005. Developing status: ACTIVE. Release status: ALPHA.

Results

The Brief Growing-up History of PL Eyes Detectors.



Since the computational cognition ability of the physical linguistic image processing engine, each PL vision detector is evolving overtime based on its performance in real-life applications, therefore, we present some brief snapshot of the evolution of this PL visual detector at different growing stages. By inspecting the growing processes of PL vision detectors, we can observe the highly scaled-up abilities of PL vision detectors under constant updating and developing by Yang's Scientific Research Institute.

Stage 1: Finished on December 15, 2005. Only one direction of open eyes can be detected with some false alarms.

Stage 2: Finished on January 25, 2006. Only four directions of open eyes can be detected with much fewer false alarms.

Stage 3: Finished on April 14, 2006. The primary version of detecting single eye is just finished.
