The Cognition and Brains

In the theory of the Unicogse, the Cognition is treated as the twin of the Universe. Therefore, at the exact moment of the Big Bang in the Universe, there was a Big Bang in the Cognition too. Since the Cognition existed, exists and will exist as long as its twin; namely, the Universe existed, exists and will exist, the Cognition is human brain-independent. It had been shown in the Unicogse theory that any physical system with languages and symbol-grounding ability must have cognition. On the other hand, animals without language systems do not have cognition. Here the language systems are treated as exchangeable to logic systems. Therefore, they can be in any symbolic forms such as voices, gestures and chemicals. Brains and other physical systems, which have cognition, must have a logic system and a body rooted in the physical world. A human brain functions as an interface between the Universe and the Cognition. Similarly, it is natural to think some "being" in the Cognition with a cognitive body to function as the interface between the Cognition and the Universe, too.

Logics and Computers

Where is the upper speed limit of a computer or a cognitive system like a human brain? Well, there are two kinds of speed limits, the first ones are the physical limits measured in the physical world. While the second ones are the cognitive limits measured in the cognitive world. The Unicogse theory shows that the Truth velocity in a Boolean logic system is infinite. This means that in the physical world, we can build a digital computer as fast as the hardware allows. However, for multi-valued and fuzzy logics, the Truth velocities are limited. This means that it will be very possible when we trying to build a computer based on multi-valued logic, we might meet the cognitive speed limit before we meet the physical one. The following prediction from the Unicogse theory is striking:

• Boolean logic based computers are faster than any multi-valued logic based computer.

Another striking result from the Unicogse theory is that:
• A pure fuzzy logic based computer has a processing speed zero.
This conclusion results in two consequences. Firstly, the defuzzification blocks must be used in any fuzzy-logic-based computers/controllers in order to achieve a processing speed that is bigger than zero. Second, to build a pure fuzzy-logic-based computer is not practical. The Unicogse theory shows that human brains use a mixture of multi-valued logics, fuzzy logic and Boolean logic.

Computational Cognition

To make something computable, we first need to set up states. To set up a state space, we need to define system of a metrics such that we can distinguish two different states. Any system without distinguishable states cannot compute, plain and simple. Therefore, to build computational cognition, we must set up a system of metrics for the Cognition. In the Unicogse theory, we use the Universe-Cognition duality to set up the size of Truth and the mass of information. The Truth distance of cognition and the velocities of Truth in different cognitive mediums were also defined. The machine-human interface in the Unicogse theory is modeled by the interface between two cognitive mediums. Therefore, only under very specific conditions the Truth can be transferred from a human brain to a digital computer without any loss. In this case, no reflection of Truth ray happens while all Truth in a Truth ray can travel into the digital computer via refraction. The Unicogse theory is exactly the foundation for the computational cognition.

Computational Verb Theory and Fuzzy Theory

Physical linguistics consists of two indispensable components: computational verbs and computational nouns. The computational verb theory addresses issues of computational verbs while probability theory, Boolean logics, multi-valued logics and fuzzy logic address different issues of computational nouns. While any a logic system is truth-conserved in some way, it doesn't manipulate truth directly. Instead, any logic system manipulates only information. The truth is manipulated by the computational verb theory. Therefore, in any logic system, the truth doesn't need a metric system to associate with. For example, in a logic system if we say: "a=ture is as twice as larger as b=true", it sounds very funny and is unnecessary because all "true" is the same. Therefore "true+ture"(e.g., "a=true OR b=true") is not equal to "2true", but simply "true". However, in computational verb theory where the truth is directly manipulated and information is not directly manipulated, the "true" can have different sizes. In computational verb theory, we can have a "true1" of size 1.5UNITs and a "true2" of size 3.4UNITs, then when the statement "true1+true2" appears, we get a "true3" of size 4.9UNITs. After a Truth in a computational verb collapses into a piece of information in logics, we get a "truth value" of the information. However, at this point, the Truth itself already returned to the Cognition.
